Bed Time Yoga For Better Rest

When it comes to trying to get a good night’s sleep, how you spend the last few minutes winding down plays a huge part. Finding an enjoyable and relaxing way to relax can be difficult, especially when we’re still caught up in the motion of the day. One answer? Yoga in bed. Yoga promotes a magnitude of mind and body benefits including strength, flexibility and stress relief, helping your body adjust for a better night sleep. And the best part is that you can end your day and just hop into bed before settling in for a good night of sleep ahead.

Here are just some of the yoga poses you can try before getting some shut eye:

Reclining goddess pose

Lie flat with your knees bent and the soles of your feet touching. Either keep your hands by your side or reach above your head – whatever feels most comfortable.

Legs up the wall pose

Assuming your bed isn’t in the middle of the room, turn your hips toward the head of your bed and lean your legs vertically against the wall. To avoid discomfort place a pillow beneath your hips.

Forward bend

Sitting upright with your legs fully outstretched, reach forward and touch your heels, toes or shins. If you feel tightness in the backs of your legs, simple keep your knees slightly bent.

Childs pose

Kneeling on your bed, reach your head forward and lie down between your thighs. Keeping your arms by your side, this is a great restorative pose.

Winding down twist

Sit cross legged, place your right arm on your left knee and your left hand on the bed behind your tailbone. While breathing deeply, gently twist your torso to the left while gazing over your left shoulder.
